Do I need Controller Services if I already have a bookkeeper?

Yes — bookkeeping and Controller Services solve different problems. Your bookkeeper handles the day-to-day recording of transactions, while Controller Services add a layer of oversight on top: reviewing that work, managing AP and AR, monitoring cash flow, and providing the financial insight a bookkeeping role isn't typically responsible for.

Do you handle direct communication with the CRA?

Yes. We can act as your point of contact for routine CRA correspondence and inquiries, so you're not left navigating those conversations on your own.

Do you handle payroll for both hourly and salaried employees?

Yes — we manage payroll for hourly, salaried, and contract staff, including all related source deductions, remittances, and year-end reporting.

How far ahead can you realistically forecast?

Most of our forecasts look 12 to 18 months ahead, giving you enough runway to plan major decisions while staying grounded in realistic, current data.

How is this different from hiring an in-house Controller?

An in-house Controller comes with a full-time salary, benefits, and management overhead. Our Controller Services give you the same level of financial oversight and decision support on a flexible, scalable basis — so you get senior expertise without the cost of a full-time hire.

How long does a typical month-end close take?

Most month-end closes are completed within 10 to 15 business days after month-end, depending on transaction volume and how quickly we receive the information we need from you.

How often is my forecast updated?

We recommend revisiting your forecast monthly or quarterly, comparing it against actual results and adjusting for any changes in your business or market conditions.

How often will my bookkeeping be updated?

Bookkeeping is maintained on an ongoing basis throughout the month, so your books are always current heading into your month-end close — not left to catch up all at once.

What do you need from me each month to complete the close?

We'll typically need bank and credit card statements, copies of invoices and bills, payroll reports, and answers to any outstanding questions from the prior month. The quicker these come in, the quicker your close is finalized.

What happens if I've missed a filing deadline in the past?

We can help you get caught up. We'll review your filing history, identify any outstanding obligations, and work with you to bring everything current while minimizing penalties and interest wherever possible.
